 Abstract:  Typescript of unpublished manuscript, with photographs, concerning the story of Apache May, a young Apache girl found in May, 1896, by Cochise County cattleman and former sheriff, John Slaughter, in an abandoned Apache camp. She lived with the Slaughters at their San Bernadino Ranch until her accidental death in 1900. Photographs are of Apache May at various ages, some with Viola Slaughter.

 Abstract:  This collection houses 218 photographs collected by J. F. Crampton depicting central and southern Arizona (primarily Globe) and its residents. Views include street scenes, mines (including the Copper Hill Mine and the Old Dominion Mine) and miners, railroad workers, the first train to reach Globe, a train wreck, and the Stanwix and Gila Bend depots. People depicted include the Higdon family, students of the Old Adobe and Central schools, local personalities, and Apache people. Landscape views include Globe, Roosevelt Dam, Coolidge Dam, the ruins of Mill City, Maricopa Wells, Fort McDowell, Devil's Canyon Trail, Fish Creek, and the Apache Trail.
